Universals’ initial aftermarket Infotainment Application (UIS) has been designed to work with Kenwood Japan 6.95” and 7” in-dash Touch Screen displays.
UIS offers more than navigation to the user:
- High resolution Satellite and/or Aerial Photography map displays
- Thousands of points of Interest (POI)
- Voice/video as well as text Navigation instruction to the user
- Zoom-in and out display interface without the “choppy” experience as in those applications of the competition.
UIS standard features include:
- 3G Quad Communications Technologies
- I-net web browser, E-mail, Fax, MMS (Multi Media Messaging System), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth
- SOS Video/Audio Call (no subscription with Universal is required1)
- MMS (Multi Media Messaging System), Wi-Fi, Blue Tooth,
- Video call (Video Call is a UIS proprietary Software through which the user can enjoy Video/Audio conversations with other users through crisp/clear video, a first for consumers in the North America market2)
- ”Follow me” capability (a user may send to another UIS user their present position and trip route, so that the second may follow the first to a particular destination)
- The ability to store favorite music and videos within the on board Hard Drive (HD) and/or play their favorites via Bluetooth from his/her cell phone
- 24X7 monitoring HELP service via the UIS monitoring centers.
Though no official affiliation exists between Kenwood Japan and Universal, it is because of our commitment to provide the best available technologies to the consumer markets that we have chosen to specify Kenwood products. |

With UIS in one’s vehicle, the consumer can now truly see the terrain as they travel, being able to make their own decisions regarding their route or altering their route to compensate for such obstacles as traffic conditions, temporary road closings, etc., simply because they can visually see the terrain they are traveling on, rather than a colored map display with lines for roads as is the case with all other “in-vehicle” applications and systems available today.
Additionally, Kenwood Japan’s in-vehicle aftermarket equipment consists of more than 7” display units. They are also fully enhanced Touch Screen Systems with AM-FM Stereo radio, RDS capture, Video/DVD, MP3, Bluetooth, I-Pod media receiving capabilities and so much more. As previously mentioned, we are committed to presenting the consumer with a wide range (in both options and functionality) of choice of equipment to use alongside their UIS system.
UNS Labs, the Research and Development Division of UISC, has created the UIS System products, often called UIS for short. Originally created for General Motors (GM) to provide them with a superior Technological position in the area of Infotainment and Navigation, UIS provides ultimate flexibility and simplicity while offering features not available on commercial products currently available in the market. |

UIS family product line powered by UNS Labs proprietary UNS Navi Engine are a one of a kind applied solutions to Navigation/Infotainment industry today. Though many respected competitors have tried and are trying to duplicate UIS in functionality and presentation, most are involved in costly R&D’s and it will take time for them to come even close to UIS …
As an OEM product, UIS offers the discerning Automotive Manufacturer the “leading edge” required to surpass their competitors in the Navigation/Infotainment Technology offered in their vehicles.
The UIS family product Line has proprietary software/hardware that controls the positioning, navigation, video & map display and also enhances the external communication capabilities/functions of the system.
UIS uses image maps that are much more intuitive and informative than existing color map displays. UIS also uses THE LATEST IN 3G Communications Technology to connect the user with the outside world.
